Mets announce LHP Steven Matz, RHP Dellin Betances have been placed on IL

The Mets announced that Steven Matz and Dellin Betances are both hitting in the IL. Matz has left shoulder discomfort, while Betances is dealing with right lat tightness.

Matz had to be pulled from his appearance during Saturday's game because of should discomfort. Manager Luis Rojas said that he just didn't seem himself on the mound, and the Mets feared then that an IL stint was coming. 

Betances, on the other hand, is a surprise with his right lat injury. He threw a wild pitch to allow the winning run to score for the Yankees in Saturday's loss. And after the game, he said "I definitely felt like I didn't have anything today." 

Drew Smith and Franklyn Kilome were recalled from the team's Alternate Training Site to fill their voids in the bullpen.
